The next APA Tree Talk will be on Tuesday, Feb. 13th from 7-9pm at the Executive Inn in Oakland.  You don't want to miss this!  Our guest presenter will be Jon Kaplan.  Jon is an award-winning photographer who has been taking pictures since the day his father handed him a Polaroid camera when he was just six years old. His passion for the art of photography has taken him from the edge of the Sahara Desert to the highlands of Guatemala, and taught him the simple beauty and true power of family and community in even the humblest of settings. His work has been published in both national and international magazines including The New York Times, The New Yorker and Camera Arts.  For more information on Jon please check his website http://jonkaplan.com.  Jon has also been a student at the Landscape Horticulture program at Merritt College.  Jon will show a slideshow of pictures he took of gardens in Japan.  Doors open at 6:30pm.  Cost is $5 for members and $20 for non-members.

This is the third annual APA garden tour! We are proud to feature gardens of the East Bay which are beautifully and expertly pruned by APA certified aesthetic pruners Leslie Buck, Yuki Nara, and Dan Villaume. Each of the four gardens makes unique use of its natural setting in the East Bay hills.  Enjoy yourselves. And take advantage of this unique opportunity to ask certified aesthetic pruners about their technique and process.

There will be book signings throughout the day by Leslie Buck, author of ‘Cutting Back’, in the Mitchell garden and pruning demos by Randall Lee, APA President, in the Bookin garden.  There will also be informal presentations giving overviews of the gardens, design elements and horticultural considerations for pruning.

Tour Hours: 10:00am to 4:00pm. Please visit the gardens during tourhours only. Rain or Shine.
